Perhaps not really a project, but more a direction my work is taking at the moment. When painting the portraits for Wereldreis on paper, I remembered how much I like to paint on paper with oils. It gives me a freedom to leave things unfinished, and thus permits me to make large scale sketches, rather than finished paintings.

I'm painting farmyard animals without any background, leaving the focus completely on the individuality of each animal. I'm looking for heritage breeds to paint, because it gives me a great excuse to go and visit the smallholders and hobbyists that keep them.

A big part of this is making small sketches from life in fields and stables.
